General
Questions

What is liquid floor screeding, and how does it differ from traditional screeding?

Liquid floor screed is a modern screeding solution that provides a smooth, level finish with faster application times and superior durability compared to traditional sand-cement screeds. Its self-leveling properties allow for more precise application and enhanced thermal efficiency, making it an ideal choice for underfloor heating systems.

How long does the screeding process take?

Installation times vary depending on the size of the project. Generally, our advanced techniques allow for rapid installation, with most residential floors being completed within a day. After installation, the drying time will depend on the depth of the screed and environmental conditions.

Is liquid screed suitable for underfloor heating?

Yes, liquid floor screed is highly compatible with underfloor heating systems. Its fluid consistency allows it to flow around pipes easily, creating a consistent thermal layer for efficient heat distribution and improved energy savings.

What surfaces can be covered with liquid screed?

Liquid screed can be applied over various subfloors, including concrete slabs and insulation boards. It provides a versatile base for different types of flooring finishes, from tiles and hardwood to carpet and vinyl.

How thick does the liquid screed need to be?

The required thickness depends on the project’s specifications and any additional requirements, like underfloor heating. For general applications, the screed layer is usually around 50-75mm thick. For underfloor heating, the thickness may vary based on the heating system and desired output.

How do I prepare my space before screeding begins?

Before our team arrives, we recommend that the area be cleared of any debris or loose items to ensure a clean working environment. Our team will provide additional guidance specific to your project during the initial consultation.

How long before the screed can be walked on or have flooring installed?

Typically, liquid screed can be walked on within 24-48 hours, depending on conditions. Full drying time before flooring installation will depend on the screed depth and environmental factors, with an approximate drying time of 1mm per day. Reduced drying times compared to other screeds. It is suitable for wet areas. Moisture sensitive floor coverings can be applied when the screed has dried to a moisture content of <2.5%CM.
